Appell an das Gewissen von Nuklear-Experten möglich?

… Aber doch lest selber:

Subject: Restart of Doel 3 and Tihange 2

Dear members of the International Review Board,
Electrabel plans to restart Doel 3 and Tihange 2 in July.
As you know, the FANC already approved the restart of both reactors before on 17 May 2013, without
+ the research to embrittlement were completed and the results were present. (Requirement 11)
+ the full validity of the ultrasound tests have been proven. (Requirement 7)
+ the recommendation of the former IBRs for a larger RTNDT-Shift was taken into account.

When these works were performed after restart, the disastrous results of the tests led again to an unplanned shutdown of the reactors on 26 March 2014.

@Mr. Schultz, Mr. Wallin, Mr. Williams we remind you: the recommendations of the first IRB in which you were involved, were ignored once before.

  • Why do you assume that your recommendations will have relevance this time?
  • What will you do if – contrary to your recommendation – the reactors are again reconnected to the grid?
  • What will all of you do?
  • Will you raise your voice publicy?
  • Will you at least share your internal knowledge (if necessary anonymously) with us?

@Mr Pardoen, by your email dated 7 November 2014 addressed to me you write: „A major element of scientific reviewing is deontology and honesty. The contract of confidentiality with FANC is of course part of this deontology.“ But all of you have due to your knowledge advantage beyond contractual ties also a responsibility to society and the factored in victims!

Would you make your decision in the same way, if your pregnant daughter would live in close proximity to one of the reactors?

==> Should there be a major accident after the restart now you won’t be able to make any excuses. You then will be responsible for this tragedy as well.

One thing is clear: We, the potential victim can no longer rely on the Belgian Nuclear Regulatory as a neutral party. But we are confident that you have the necessary courage to accept your responsibility as scientists.

With the hope to be able to reach at least one of you, we remain

with best regards ….
